Eclipse: Never View The Sun With The Naked Eye

Lamp, hat, hat rack, walls, dimensions variable, 2012
in collaboration with Scott Stibich

From the outside, the hat hangs on its rack while a spotlight illuminates it. Behind the curtain, the light, eclipsed by the hat, shines through a hole in the wall and onto a small screen in the dark room. The image created is similar to what one sees when using a viewing bow to observe a solar eclipse, the hat playing the role of the moon, and the lamp as the sun.
